Lisbon spot of the week: for those who look for organic local food and natural wine

Located between Cais de SodrĂ© and Santos, a bit away from all the traffic but just around the corner from the busy street Rua da Boavista, Comida Independente is a true hidden gem for those who appreciate quality food and wine. The vibe is very authentic; you immediately get the feeling that this place is more than just a regular wine shop or snack bar. Their slogan is âGrandes Produtos de Pequenos Produtoresâ (great products from small producers).
You can enjoy delicious treats like their signature pastrami sandwiches, oysters from SetĂșbal, and charcuterie boards. I love discovering new wines, and they always have something special to offer, from trendy orange wines to interesting natural wine options. One of the great things about this place is that they offer wines not only from Portugal, which is quite rare. Once, I got a bottle of Greek wine here, and it was a pleasant surprise for our wine-tasting picnic.
I would say that this place is perfect for a late afternoon sip and taste on a weekend, especially on a sunny day when you can enjoy the terrace.
The spot outside of Lisbon for a foodie day trip

You probably know that when you move from one region in Portugal to another, the cuisine and typical dishes change as well. Bairrada, for instance, is famous for its piglet with a crispy crust. We discovered this restaurant when Ricardo suggested we stop there for lunch on our way to GerĂȘs. Ricardo was born and raised in Portugal and is a true foodie, especially when it comes to Portuguese food. So, who are we to say no to such a recommendation? The experience was indeed special.
Bairrada is also the land of Portuguese sparkling wine. The surprise of our lunch at Mugasa was how well fatty piglet and very light, dry Bairrada sparkling wine worked together.
If you are into gastronomic experiences, this place is a must-visit spot in Portugal. Make sure to reserve your table in advance, as it can get crowded. To complete your day-out experience you can visit one of the Bairrada wineries and pick up a few bottles for your collection and go for a hike in the nearby Buçaco Forest.
đ Weekend trip to Geres: May 1-4

We are going to Geres for a longer weekend to hike, do a bit of kayaking & paddle boarding, taste local cuisine, and chill in the amazing house by the lake.
đ About Good Vibes Day Out
It all started with the hike in Sintra back in February 2023 to meet people and make friends. Step by step, lunch by lunch, hike after hike it grew into a community of people who appreciate spending great time outdoors and value building long-lasting connections. There is a cozy WhatsApp group for those who attended the events. There we discuss ideas for future events and organize get-togethers outside of publicly announced events.
Our vibe is chill and laid-back. Good Vibes Day Out is about sharing the experience, exploring, enjoying great food, having deeper conversations, embracing diversity, and leaving room for spontaneity so that everyone can add their colors to the weekend and let things happen.
